I recommend three posts at Climate Etc that provide the numbers that have to be addressed but are ignored by too many activists before renewables can replace fossil energy:
http://judithcurry.com/2014/12/11/all-megawatts-are-not-equal/
http://judithcurry.com/2014/11/05/more-renewables-watch-out-for-the-duck-curve/
http://judithcurry.com/2014/10/22/myths-and-realities-of-renewable-energy/
CNY Rogerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07128748617520028340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7952077824240445451.post-47760606103025323462015-01-02T18:01:49.285-08:002015-01-02T18:01:49.285-08:00Blair, I indeed have, and very thoughtful they are...Blair, I indeed have, and very thoughtful they are. My question, however, still stands, sorry! I do appreciate that you are a "lukewarmer", but my quest for wisdom and for hard evidence about the effect of anthropogenic CO2 on long term climate remains un-successful. My background includes a course under Karl Popper as an undergraduate 50 plus years ago, and a subsequent career which included programming computer models of future events/circumstances. I still look for falsifiability in any forecasts. I don't see enough of it in climate science.

Tony.Tonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12403402759397815362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7952077824240445451.post-60401792839218382052015-01-02T17:49:06.623-08:002015-01-02T17:49:06.623-08:00Tony, look at my earlier posts (Dec 10 and 13) on ...Tony, look at my earlier posts (Dec 10 and 13) on the topic to see my views.Blairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14439598281608282361noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7952077824240445451.post-43722664566338205402015-01-02T17:42:42.419-08:002015-01-02T17:42:42.419-08:00You mention your carbon footprint, which seems to ...You mention your carbon footprint, which seems to imply that you subscribe to the belief that anthropogenic CO2 is some sort of simplistic control knob affecting "climate" (or is it global warming?).

I have looked hard and sincerely for this - do you know of any reproducible, testable, evidence which is more than hand waving? I am not trying to be rude here, just reaching for an understanding of why the received wisdom about CO2 as a dangerous greenhouse gas seems to be little more than a cult belief, or an example of the madness of crowds.

Anthony.Tonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12403402759397815362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7952077824240445451.post-21023630308804923252015-01-02T17:34:36.593-08:002015-01-02T17:34:36.593-08:00This comment has been removed by the author.Tonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12403402759397815362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7952077824240445451.post-65179664885939470532015-01-02T16:17:04.531-08:002015-01-02T16:17:04.531-08:00Is it perfectly all right to be a small dog and no...Is it perfectly all right to be a small dog and not over concerned whether people agree with me or not? Or do I have to be all things to all people so as to do the least offending as possible, and apologise if I do anyway?

Thoughts on renewable energy. Great idea. Pity we don't have any....Or rather we do, but in Britain they're all fuelled by subsidy, which is unsustainable, so, not only will they not sustain, but they clearly aren't what they claim to be....As well as all the other issues of course, low density, intermittent, transmission loss, environment impact etc. (when and where they apply).

Ho Hum now I'm offending, so I'll just say well done everyone, you've all done very well. Never mind about fuel poverty, elitist wealth redistribution, business growth, national prosperity or any of that economic stuff, we've got a planet to save.....Even if it doesn't do that either.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
